Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre’s
Born of a deep concern for the well-being of children and a desire to make a difference, the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre’s (CAC) vision is to create a warm, welcoming, and safe place which provides hope, help and healing for children and youth who have been abused.
At the Sheldon Kennedy CAC, we operate with best practices in creating a centre of excellence which responds and treats child abuse. We want to ensure that children, youth and their families have a nurturing, compassionate, child-focused environment with access to the best services and professional expertise possible.

Through four major community partners housed at the CAC; Calgary Police Service, Calgary and Area Child and Family Services, Alberta Health Services, and Alberta Justice Calgary Crown Prosecutors, victims of abuse under the age of 18 can report their abuse without excessive repetition of the circumstances surrounding their abuse.
The CAC’s expertise includes police investigation, criminal prosecution, medical treatment, social work assessment, psychological and psychiatric support, child development evaluation– all carried out with a communal commitment to a multidisciplinary approach to child abuse. Our frontline workers are passionate about their work and know that their efforts are strengthened by working closely with other experts in a single location.
